To compute capacity commissioned within a 50 km radius of a project, we use the geocoordinate data available for each project in the BNEF projects database. We calculate the distance between the reference project and the projects that have been commissioned prior to the reference project permitting date.
The mean commissioning times also differs between the country groupings with no clear trend. For instance, in OECD countries, after solar PV the order is wind onshore, small hydro RoR, biomass electricity and wind offshore.
